Photoshop: Kalidescope

This image represents the "kalidescope" label simply because of the illusion it shows.
Through this assignment, I learned more basic photoshop skills, how to merge layers, adjust colors in a more advanced way, and how to make a whole new image out of another.
I found just figuring out how to do this was the most difficult part, however, once I figured the process out, it was so easy, I was surprised I had trouble in the first place!
If I were to do this assignment again, I would probably just explore the possibilities of photoshop deeper. I am amazed at how much you can do with jsut the few things I've learned so far.

Alternative World

In order to take the pictures for this particular project, we visited Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. I have a great time there exploring the battle ships of the world wars, while I was there I learned a lot and took many great pictures. With these pictures we used Photoshop to create an alternative world, a dream place.
This is my first time doing any sort of detailed work on Photoshop, aside from basic editing, I am proud of my ending product, and excited about what I learned to do.

Pop Art!

This is a picture of my friend Cait that she took on my Iphone a few days ago. I decided to add some pop art effects to it. I like the way it came out, and am happy with it concidering it's the first time I've used filters and layers on photoshop; I haven't done much on photoshop at all. I'm really enjoying all the things I'm learing and discovering.

Stop Motion: Red Sox

These images reflect their label (stop motion) because they are atheletes photographed playing a game. I found this assignment difficult when it came to editing because I poorly followed the rule of thirds while taking these photos. So, cropping and editing them to have a strong composition was a challenge. My strongest image, in my opinion, is the middle one above. I think the composition is strong and there is just enough happening to make this an interesting picture.... not too boring, not too over whelming. My weakest image is the first one above of the Red Sox pitcher. I feel like he almost blends in with the crowd in the background, as far as colors go. It is also a bit boring. That makes the picture somewhat difficult to look at and uninteresting.

Blurred Motion: Light Painting

I really love light painting and all of the creative and inventive things you can do with it. I've always wanted to make something really cool with this technique, however I found it harder than I thought it would be. That frustrated me a bit, so I didn't spend enough time on it.

Next time I attempt light painting, I will need to do some more reasearch and preparation before. I do hope to try again, though.

refraction through a wine glass

I am quite proud of this refraction project. When it was assigned I was afraid that my pictures would not stick out and look like just more cliche pictures of a wine glass. While a glass is not the most original picutre subject for refraction, I thought these came out very nice and were not cliche at all. I am happy with the composition and how well the elements of refraction came out.

Reflection

Not my finest hour..... iPhone's are definitely not my camera of choice...
These photos are probably some of the worst I've taken. I find the quality bad and the choice of subject pretty bland.

Lines of life

For this line project I used a cobination of photos I took in NYC this past August and ones I had taken specifically for this project. I am not particularly proud of the photos of the snow covered lake, with time running short I decided to use the NYC pictures. I was surprised browsing through the pictures, months after taking them, at all the examples of line I found.

I much perfer the pictures from New York City, my favorite being the Brooklyn Bridge shot. These pictures are much more entriguing with the sharp and vivid colors, also I find the subjects alone much more interesting than the snow covered lake.
